The word ‘Passanda’ is a variation on the Urdu word "pasande" meaning "favourite". Like a Korma, Pasanda has a rich history. It originated in the Indian subcontinent, notably North Indian, Hyderabadi, and Pakistani, derived from a meal served in the court of the Mughal emperors. Korma and pasanda or passanda are usually the two mildest dishes on the menu at an Indian restaurant. It is such a crowd-pleaser! This is one of my kids' favorite curries. Pasanda contains ground almonds, cashew nuts, cream, and yogurt. Chicken tikka masala is the all-time most popular dish on the Indian restaurant menu and is somewhere in the middle of the spice scale.
